The loss was driven by the contribution of our existing 19.9% investment in Fortitude into the fund, and the subsequent accounting for our investment which is based on the net asset value of our limited partnership interest in the fund rather than a direct investment in Fortitude. (2) In connection with the initial drawdown of the March 2022 capital raise from Fortitude, the Company’s indirect ownership of Fortitude decreased from 19.9% to 13.5%. As a result of the dilution, the Company recorded a reduction in the carrying value of its equity method investment and corresponding loss of $177 million. At the time the remaining capital is called by Fortitude, the Company’s indirect ownership will further decrease to 10.5% and the Company expects to record an additional reduction in carrying value and related loss.
